APPALOOSA HORSE COMPETITORS:
In
2004 The Appaloosa Horse Club (ApHA) started accepting Cowboy Mounted
Shooting results as a part of the Appaloosa Competitive All-Breed Activities
Program (ACAAP).
ACAAP was set up as a way to recognize Appaloosas who excel in open and
all-breed competitions. Through ACAAP, participants earn merits in different
categories by turning in results from competition outside the ApHC approved/sponsored
shows. ACAAP merits are recorded as part of the horse’s official
performance record.
REQUIREMENTS:
Competitor must complete ACAAP Enrollment Form (Available at www.appaloosa.com)
and receive enrollment card prior to competition. Fee $25 ApHC members/$50
non-members. You don’t have to be a member of the ApHC to enroll
and compete in the ACAAP. However, one owner of the horse must be a current
member in order to be eligible to receive awards.
Competitor must bring the following to every shoot:
Horse’s ApHC Certificate of Registration
ACAAP Exhibitor Report Form (Available at www.appaloosa.com)
ACAAP enrollment card
The Exhibitor Report Form must be signed by an official representative
of the sponsoring cowboy mounted shooting club and then turned in with
$5 show premium within 30 days of the shoot. Merit tabulations are shown
on the Exhibitor’s Report.
At this time the merits will be awarded under the Games category. If there
is enough interest, a separate category for mounted shooting could be
added later.
Award System:
Certificate of Achievement—Awarded to a horse with 20 merits earned
in any ACAAP category.
Certificate of Superior Achievement—Awarded when a horse with 60
merits earned in ay ACAAP category.
Additional awards available—please visit www.appaloosa.com
under programs.
